This year, students will volunteer in Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Indiana, Indonesia, Jamaica, and the Philippines, addressing a wide range of social justice issues.
We are excited to embark on our service trips this spring and summer and would be further inspired by your presence and support at our Benefit Dinner.

Descriptions of Year Round Events
Quarterly Retreats
Community Building is an important part of AB@UCSD, and comes in the form of Quarterly Retreats and Member Trainings. The retreats are important events in which members are trained on the Breakaway Eight Components and prepare for their Alternative Break experience. Community building also requires the help of other leaders and members within the organization to collaborate and work on projects together.
Service Days & Social Events
Service Days are important and meaningful ways to get involved in the local UC San Diego and San Diego community by engaging in service and awareness projects. These events are a great way for members to meet one another, especially that there are many participants in the organization. This is a great way for networking opportunities, social events, and ways to learn more about the bigger social issues that impact the community.
Reorientation Program
The Reorientation Program that occurs in the Spring provides an opportunity for for participants of Alternative Breaks to share their experiences with the rest of the larger UCSD Campus Community. Reorientation can be done at the larger organization level, group trip level, and individual level. We encourage all members to actively engage themselves in service year round and take part in service days.
Newsletters
Also, we have a weekly recognition program with the Active Citizens of the Week in the Alternative Breaks @ UCSD Community Newsletter sent out once every week
